« on: January 12, 2004, 23:33:54 »
Hi all, I think we`ve flogged the music thread to death, so what are your favourite websites (apart from this one) ?  One of my great favourites is www.cornwallcam.co.uk , it`s full of beautiful photos of Cornwall.  ;D

I guess the other one I frequent the most is an MSN motorbike site - not terribly interesting really, no beautiful scenes, altho loads of beaut bikes!  (and rufty tufty biker boys  ;D)  And www.gardenweb.com, altho now I come here, I go there less.  Other than that, I am a grazer, just looking here and there and everywhere!  :o

If you like cooking or just general chit chat oh and growing your own stuff then have a google for  `nicebites`

Beware though it can be highly addictive and you may run into my alta ego `Snowball`

Can I recommend www.orkneyjar.com
..... gives a good overview of the islands which are amazing to visit. We only managed to visit the main neolithic sites which are among the biggest and best preserved in the world. There's a link to watch the winter solstice at Maeshowe - awe inspiring!
Checck out also the village at Skara Brae.

Whn we visited we were amazed at the freedom at the sites, you were able to try out the neolithic beds and touch many of the exhibits, handling axes and skulls really brought you into contact with the past. Really nice not to be behind glass or fenced off.

OOOhhh, Orkney Isles!  Went there this year RR, bludy brilliant they are - Maeshowe is fab - there were Vikings who got stuck there in a storm, and carved graffiti on the walls, which translates as stuff like..

"Ethelred was ere" and "Even posh birds have to duck down and show their b*ms to get in here"  The best ones were "I can kick ar*e better than a really famous bloke from Nordic history" ones - fantastic!  Just shows, human beans aint changed much since the days of rape and pillage...

I went ostensibly (wow, big word after a bottle of wine) to see seals, as there are thousands living in the Orkneys, and how many did I see?   NONE!!  I reckon they'd all gone on their hols   ;D

Did you see any RR?

'fraid so, just swimming of shore, good place to see seals is N.Norfolk coast on boat trips from Marston Quay, go every year.
Walking through nature reserve (or the like),in Orkney we accidentally disturbed nesting Great Skuas, big birds , twice the size of seagulls and twice the attitude, have been known to take lambs etc; who then mobbed us, - very, very frightening, Littl'un was 3ish at the time and thought it was great, not so the grown-ups.

One of the best places I've visited.
