First strawbs - pretty good eh? ;D 8) ;D
Terri
That's excellent Our first are still a couple of days off, & not that many either!
Just eaten them - yummmmmmm - absoutely double deeelicious!!! ;D ;D
Wonderful, well done. ;D
G xx
That is so fabulous! Were they under glass or are you a natural?? Mine are no where up to picking :(
nope, they were potted up runners from my garden - a bit of a mixture - some earlies, mid eason and lates so hopefully I'll be picking for a while!
Just planted them last year - November I think - , through black weed suppressing stuff - keeps them clean too - netted them - and bingo. I am so pleased.
As for being a natural - err I do not think so ;) - all the above things were done because of info received from this site. Believe me guys, ifi can do it...
But I am sooooo chuffed.
Terri ;D 8) ;D
What a 'mouth-watering' pic!! That's brilliant getting them so early. Ours are still small & colourless!!
Brilliant I've only just netted mine.
I think of all the things we grow strawberries eaten straight off the plant are my favorite.
I have a 2 metre by 3 metre patch. All from 3 plants that were half price.
Good I love strawberries, I'm so envious of yours being ready.
Wattapain did you need to put straw under your strawbs? Or was the sheet enough?

No I didn't put any straw on them - just the black stuff & net.
Terri
Thanks for the very prompt reply terri :D I now know that i dont need any straw, thanks
wow, good going there!
My strawbs aren't anywhere near picking yet - still swelling and green.
The plants, however, have gone absolutely nuts this year - they've grown to twice the size they were last year, and absolutely covered in flowers.
If only 50% of them come to something then we'll be overrun in June.
And that doesn't include the 13 runners that I took last year and potted up into two terracotta strawb planters in the back garden...
I have already had strawberries too.
I grew mine in a half drainpipe suspended along the greenhouse.
They had a lovely smell and were sweet and full of flavour.
Will definitely be doing strawbs this way again!

They look amazing, can't wait for mine to be ready, i think it will be a while yet.  The good news is there are lots of flowers, so hopefully lots of strwaberries!!!
:o I was expecting to see some beautiful plants with lots of flowers NOT a plate full of friut.
They look sooooo delish. :P
Mine are still at the flowering stage but of course mine are a later flowering variety. Thats my story and Im sticking to it!!! ;) ;D
I'm still waiting for mine too. :(
There are load of fruits but all green..... :-\

We had a bowlful of large red fruit at the weekend too.
