Well done indeed Richard...bon appetit!
Lucky you :) My peas are miniscule yet. As for spuds - nowt yet. So I'll have to go hungry :'( Did have a ham sarni on the lotty today rounded off with my own mixed lettuce leaves, radishes and chives. It always tastes best when you've grown it yourself doesn't it ;D
Hi all
our dinner today will also consist of a few new spuds dug a little while ago today we have Rocket Foremost & Kestral to try
carn't wait to try them
Richard what sort are yours looks a bit like Kestral to me?
;D
Pea soup with the shells, of course?
Impressive-well done that man. First broad beans are ready-wonder if bind weed roots stir fry?
Stephan
Today we had salad type buffet with broadbeans (still small and in their pods) cooked in garlic olive oil, lemon juice and tomato, asparagus with butter and lemon and mixed leaves. Rhubarb jelly for pud. No spuds yet. :(
My tatties have flowers (Rocket) and I am excitied about this. Did accidentlly hoe a leaf off a cabbage today so ate that. But other than that I am still looking forward to my first lottie dinner ... and I cannot wait.
PS - yes I am back - I have crawled out of the hole of humiliation that has been my berth for the past 24 hours.
It's not the veg. I'm watching so much as the first super on my strongest hive. The first honey of the season is always an exciting moment, and I noticed when I was checking them for swarm cells yesterday that it's getting decidedly heavy.
What a wonderful harvest Richard ! Â ;D
Hope you enjoyed the meal. Â :D
Geez that's wonderful, how soon do you have to sow them to have them ready by now? :o
wish i was comimg to yours for dinner welldone
Bet it was lovely Richard, you grow them and your wife makes a beuatiful meal of them, great teamwork :)
Well done. Had some of my potatoes and they were pea size but beautifully formed and tasty!!
Had some asparagus 2cnd year so only a taste. Broad beans are ready do I pinch out the tops wether they have black fly or not??
I was told not to pinching out if there was no blackfly by Charlie next door (96 and lottying for 70 yrs). So I haven't.
RC where was your hole of humiliation and why? Nosey, yes! I expect everyone wants to know ;D
Wonderful sight Richard. Bet they taste fantastic. :) busy_lizzie

.........or peapod wine perhaps? 8) 8) 8)
Yum.
Makes my first harvest look pitiful!
We had homegrown rocket and radishes with our cheese salad sandwiches for lunch. (very yum - really peppery, as long as you ignore the flea beetle holes!) and dinner included broad beans, sugar snap peas and french beans out the garden. But broadies were still tiny (I didn't realise you could also eat the pods!) there was one sugar snap each (but they were the best!) and one french bean each!
I must check my spuds soon. Some of them have been in two and a half months.
When will Rockets, planted on Good Friday in Lincolnshire, be ready as I cannot wait. I want to eat eat eat.
