Title: overwintering onions bolting
Post by: adrianhumph on May 29, 2005, 08:32:40
Hi All,  :D
my overwintering onions (variety radar planted in October)  have grown well , but I noticed yesterday that quite a few had grown a flower shoot . Does this mean they now need to be dug up ???  I understand that this type of onion does not store for any great length of time, how long  do they keep ???

                                                 Adrian.

cut the flower skalks off as low as you can. Do not harvest just yet, they will continue to grow. Try harvesting a little at a time as you need them as they wont store very long.

you will still get a good crop.
