Title: Help I need Organic Control for Pea & Bean Weevil
Post by: mamalovesmambo on May 26, 2005, 11:48:15
My Broad Beans and Peas are being totally eaten by Pea & Bean Weevil.
What can I do to stop them?
I have some fine netting, should I plant a new crop with netting over it or do the Weevils live in the soil?

This site claims the Garlic Barrier product will help
http://www.npk.ltd.uk/garlic.htm
has anyone tried it?

Many Thanks

Try this one Mama.

Just type Green Gardener into your search engine and you'll find out which biological agent will be able to help you with your problem. They're also cheaper than some other sites dealing with the same sort of organic agents.  :)  I've not tried the garlic barrier method myself so can't say how effective it will be - sorry.

Although they don't look very pretty, my peas have survived pea and bean weevil. They have grown out of the problem and the leaves at the top (now about 18" tall) haven't been eaten at all.  They also have loads of flowers so I don't think it has affected the crop very much.  I would say don't worry too much about it.
