Rumaging around new lottie and found the plant on the photo. Its doesn't seem to be like a bramble as the thorns are much bigger and pointy-er (sp?). I though maybe it was a gooseberry but I'm a newbie ??? so probably have got it completely wrong and its probably another weed!!! Anyone have any ideas what it is? If it is a gooseberry (or other worthwhile, non-weed plant) will I be able to move it (and to where) as its in an area which I want to cover with black plastic to kill the weeds.
It looks alot like my gooseberry bush.!!!
That definitely looks like gooseberry to me. I would leave it until autumn before moving though. Remember you can always put the black plastic around and right up to it. Mine are very hardy and tolerate lots of abuse - as long as water can get to the roots somehow it doesn't seem to be bothered.
You could always cut a cross in the plastic and grow the gooseberry through it for now.

Thanks everyone. At least there is something in my new lottie apart from weeds :D! Will do as suggested and leave it where it is until autumn - just cut a hole in the plastic for it to grow through.
With a couple of years' nurturing that could turn into a nice bush. Just dpn't lift it till the autumn; wait till it's dormant then take care to get all the weed roots out of the rootball before you replant.
