Very sorry for the self-indulgence, but I did some gardening work for a friend today. My body knows it has done a full day's work.
The work involved renovation pruning of an overgrown jasmine and training it back over a pergola, clearing the back garden of weeds and pruning some shrubs etc.
Here are some photos of the 'before'
Weedy border!

And here are the 'afters' - with the ground cleared (it took lots of digging, bagging up and a few trips to the recycling site)!

Not bad for a day's work? I am retiring to my bath now and rest my aching bones!!
and how long are you going to keep us in suspense??????
Sorry Jane! I pressed 'post' before I meant to!!
You've done a grand job there Lord Steve. I have done a similar job this week. Took me 3 days and there are still plenty of weeds to sort. Help yourself to a hearty slap on the back and a long hot soak. :)
Amazing stuff Lord S. You must be feeling justifiably pleased with yourself. Enjoy the long hot soak.
Wow, what an impressive job you've done, Lord Steve - looks as though your friend hadn't done any gardening for months (if not years!). Enjoy your bath - very well earned!
A well earned pat on the back and a few pints down the pub, the bath can wait ;D a lotta graft gone into that, well done. ;)
Thanks for the feedback. The work was for my friend's relatives and I think they want to sell the house soon, hence the work. I don't think they have done any gardening for years, as you suggest!! (My executive decision to keep the ferns by the way - rather pleased with the end result!)
What a fantastic difference Steve - well done - hope you enjoyed the soak - I think you'll be reminded even more tomorrow of today's hard graft when you ache all over ;)
What a fantastic job you have done LS, hope you don't ache too much ;D
well done your Lordship! A VPOTB (virtual pat on the back!)
Dan :)
Now that's the kind of friend to have Lord S :D WELL DONE - a fantastic effort and doesn't the garden look great now :) I hope you are not aching too much now and that your friend treated you to a well earned few pints ;D ;) :)
What a fantastic job you have done there LS 8)
Did you do it single handed? :o
Doesnt the garden look fantastic now, its looks lovely, so interesting. Good decision about the ferns too :)
It took 2 of us all day to do! I think the clients were pleased with the transformation - they should get a better price for the house when they come to sell it, as you can see the potential in the garden now rather than just a huge problem area!
When do you go professional?
This was my first job!! Hence the reaction - I promise not to post such photos ALL the time!!!!
Wow Lord Steve - you did work hard. I bet you needed a nice soak in the bath and a back rub!
Well done Steve ;D That looks like very hard work !
Hope you enjoyed the soaking. :D
I am looking for the 'bathing and back rub' smiley! It might be true to say that I have rarely needed or enjoyed a bath quite as much!!! Mind you, I was still stiff as a board this morning!!
There you go, a bath fit for a Lord ;D

Brilliant!!!!! Thank you so much - you have really brought a smile to my face!!
I couldnt resist
;D ;D ;D ;D
Woo hoo! Well done Lord Steve!
u can really tell u have done a days work there lord steve , i will no who to call when i need work done
Good job! Another good thing about being a gardener is if they hadn't wanted those beautiful ferns you could have taken them home and given them the love they deserve!
Margi x
Thanks Margi! I did think about it but have no room in my garden for them - anyway, they look much better there!! The good news is that the photos have now appeared in the estate agents' prospectus AND they want me back for more!! Hurrah!!!
:o WOW! that's great news LS. Hope you get lots more offers of work, hope you got paid well too.
That's brilliant Lord Steve - more GWL vouchers!!!!! You'll be setting up your own business before you've finished school at this rate!
Well done Steve, does that mean that i am going to have to run your bath again? ;D
Well ... if you are offering!!! It might be churlish to refuse ;)
Wouldnt mind, but my water is metered here ya know ;) :D
Well done Steve. Looks like there was ground elder in there so you have my sympathy. Glad you kept the plants and shrubs and chucked the weeds. My OH does the opposite which is why he is no longer allowed to "weed". I'm avoiding tackling my ground elder (again) by being on A4A. ;D
