matt :D
Wouldn't be without my Chillington, I have 2, one with the fork end and one a regular one. I find it so much easier on my back! And hey, all those people in all those other countries that use them on a daily basis can't be wrong can they?? They dig potato trenches a treat too ;D!
Chillington hoe. We've got the real mckoy which my MIL bought back from SriLanka. It's fab. Brill for earthing up and you can even use it for shovelling when you get the hang of it.
Hmm sorry- too cheap to fork out (excuse the pun) for a hoe- i find the fork has more uses.
i think it might help my back and i am thinking about taking another lottie on as the poor bloke has the dreaded C
we will sea got to work on the wife ;)
I'm not sure what a chillington hoe is, but if you mean a digging hoe I picked one up for a few quid at the local market and wouldn't be without it. It really does save your back.
I am still unsure what a Chillington Hoe is, could someone post a lil photo please?
I picked up a secondhand draw-hoe for 75p last saturday which i am well pleased with. If a Chillington will save my back a lil, then I want to know more.

Here they are! I do not remember mine being terribly expensive, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it! ;D

Some of tjhose are very much like the thing I have. It goes on a pickaxe handle, and saves no end of work.
I googled and found on the tool supply sites they were £10 and on the gardening sites I found one for £27!!!! I bought the £10 one. the handle is a bit short even for a short a r s e like me but I used it the other day in favour of a fork when trying to break up some soil I'd just dug (YES ME, DIGGING) The hoe was easier to break up the clods.
I ordered mine off the internet for £10 and it was delivered day after :)
I have a bad back and I found it easy to use. My bro has just bought one as he was admiring mine and he's now a convert
can any one tell me a site that you can buy them on
I couldn't choose between a fork and a how; i use them for different jobs. The hoe for dealing with shallow-rooted weeds, the fork for deeprooted stuff and root vegetables. Occasionally I use a spade for digging holes or getting out the deepest-rooted parsnips or docks.
thanks ;D
will bear that in mind
i have a good fork but find i hurt my back (old rugby war wound) >:(
am on the look out ::)
sorry but how do you use one?? :-[
Like a pickaxe. Swing it into the ground, use the weight of the tool rather than your own strength, and pull as it goes in.
a lot better for you and your back
still struggling to get one on the net
HELP
Dominique - have you ordered one from here? Was looking at the Medium Azadas as have just got a lottie - anyone got one or know if they are OK?
(PS:Â Sorry to but in on your thread Waggi!)
They look just like my hoe.
The hoe I got was cheaper than the azada. I think it's all in the name ;D
I got mine from Toolshop Direct off the internet. I've just checked and they are £10.34 delivered.
i think i will get one soon
as i have a lot of work to do over the back end and well my back will love me for the purchase
thanks ;)
