Title: Cabbage Root Fly
Post by: sandersj89 on May 19, 2005, 17:01:32
When are cabbage root fly active and laying eggs?

The reason I ask is I ran out of collars at the weekend when planting out broccolli, calabrese, cauli, sprouts etc and wont have time until the weekend to get them on the plants.

Do cabbage root fly have a season so to speak?

Thanks

Jerry

Think it is worse when cow parsley is in flower.
Improvise - use carpet underlay, lino or corrugated cardboard.

They are definitely in season now.  My cauliflowers were fine last week but a couple had succumbed when I went to the lottie yesterday.  This was despite using collars.

Thanks,

A bit of reseach has thrown up some sites which say the season has already started:

I have more collars now and time to get these this evening so I will get them ASAP.
