Boohoo.....no!  This will be the 2nd year I will have missed out.

Chelsea (and all the big flower shows, come to that) have never appealed to me in the least. All those forced flowers and the celebrity-spotting seem a million miles away from my own little hapless garden...

...so why, within the last fortnight, have I just booked my tickets for Gardener'sWorld Live AND Hampton Court Flower Show?

...and is it curable?

???

Oh Amazin....I'm afraid you have gardenersaholic.  It is totally incureable, and actually worsens with age!  Serious side effects, like emptybankaccountedness and frostyfleecing occur.

I sympathise, and would like to help, therefore I am willing to take the tickets off your hands, thus preventing you suffering any further, allowing you time in your garden, to recouperate from the aphidache.

EJ, you're too kind - I couldn't possibly allow you to make such a huge sacrifice on my behalf. No, I'll just have to be brave and face up to this challenge.
And as for the side-effects, I'm almost proud to say that emptybankaccountedness holds no terrors for me  - for many a long year I have spent weekends visiting different parishes of the Church of the Wholly Horticultural (Credit Cards Welcome), where, on every trip a minor miracle seems to occur...
Strangely enough, no matter what I purchase, the label is always the same - Lacka Willpowerii.
Hallelujah!

Mail me?

never been to Chelsea but did Hampton Court a few years ago and have gone to Malvern for last 5 years.  Of the two I prefer Malvern but that is because I go to spend loads of lovely dosh on plants rather than look at the show gardens.

My fellow worker is up there now working on  the war memorial garden so she will blag me a couple of tickets for next wednesday. I should have been there but I am minding the shop, which I don't mind as I haven't had a day off for the last 3 weeks and a 12 hour day at Chelsea for 7 days would see me going to the funny farm.

i work next door to the royal hospital (on whose site the chelsea flower show is held every year) :)
have seen all the maquises (SP?) going up in the last four weeks. it's looking busy over there - lots of workmen and, one hopes, gardeners around.

not sure if i am going to go though - i went for a whole day two years ago and very much enjoyed it - but not sure i need to do that every year. i like the showgardens - but then i am of the architectural sort ;)

Heritage, I know just what you mean, its only a large slice of Chocolate gateaux at lunchtime and a jug of Pimms at 4pm that keep me going ;D

I'll pop around to see you when I come up, I expect it will be about 4 pm, save me some gateaux.
