Title: Dandelion experiments
Post by: return of the mac on May 12, 2005, 17:20:16
Have heard from http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm that pretty much every part of the dandelion is edible. Roots can be roasted to make coffee, leaves boiled, flowers made into wine and so on. So rather than zapping them with weedkiller or burning them i thought the best way to defeat them was by eating them. So im out for recipes and how tos on using the parts- and also tell me how tasty they are.

I think the leaves are bitter so you can "blanch" them like endive eg cover them up so the leaves go white which is said to make them more palatable.  I have lots of them so plenty of free food for me  :)
