Title: clothes airer
Post by: littlegem on May 10, 2005, 20:56:01
popped to my mums today and she gave me an old fashioned wooden clothes airer of mine that i'd had there for like ever, so i brought it home and was looking at it to see how i could make it useful. Then it came to me, the airer is one of those upwardly expandable criss cross ones, that stays up when you put the chain and hook across. I've got some melon cucumbers growing from seed, so i've put the airer up, the right way. in the vine house and put two stakes at one end. my idea is, that when the cucumbers grow i can train them up and over the clothes rails, so that the fruit hangs down and is not obstructed. I will post a pic tomorrow, then if its successful, as they are growing.

How true  ;D  I'm a slave to my washer and am just having a break now before my next guests arrive at my B & B.  Been washing all morning and have got to now rethread my whirligig  :(  Can't wait!

Clothes airer could be adapted to make greenhouse shelving, a few wooden slats across the poles. Another great idea (of mine  ;) ) is to use an old ironing board  as a potting table in the greenhouse, nice height for us back pain sufferers, takes up less space than some tables and can be folded away & put in the shed.  ;D
