Title: Cruelty on the Lottie
Post by: Roy Bham UK on May 08, 2005, 22:43:06
>:( My Lottie neighbour told me she and her husband found a severed head of a small fox on their plot :o and have now buried it deep.

Who on earth would do such an evil deed? ??? Huntsmen/women or a lottie holder or maybe a thug? ??? The torso was not found on our Lottie tho :o thank goodness :(

Pity she did not report it to the rspca as foxes have no enemies only man it makes you wonder.
I must have been caught in a trap they are not easy to catch otherwise perhaps a gun.
Some people are so sick it makes you wonder.Very very sad.

How often do you see foxes on your plot? I used to get them regularly on mine; they'd walk past me about ten feet away, looking a little wary, which they're really wild elsewhere in the city. About three years ago there was an epidemic of mange which wiped them out, but I'm beginning to see the odd one again now.

We've got an outbreak of mixymatosis in our area which is killing lots of rabbits so the fox population will go short of food.  I was concerned about the amount of rabbits dying on my plot alone so I researched a bit and found that the introduction of the disease deliberately into the population killed 90% but wiped out the European lynx at the same time as they predated on rabbits  :(

I have a theory :o the council cut the baron land that hasn't yet been let with these high speed grass cutting machines :o could they have done the damage to the fox I wonder :o also one of the two oil drums I retrieved from nearby there had straw in it :o could it have been a lair :o Oh dear. :( :'(

Oh dear , that sounds plausible Roy!

I know a lot of nesting birds have their legs cut off by these awful machines and I saw it on TV.

But a fox !  How come the farmer did not see it !?  ??? :( :'(
