Title: For Tim!(or anyone else needing a good grater!)
Post by: Doris_Pinks on May 06, 2005, 16:58:07
Tim, in case you are interested, The new large one on the right, works great (grate!) on cheese, and the new small chap is brilliant for nutmeg. (OK so the whole of last nights meal was based on me using them!)

On the packaging it says it is a extra coarse grater, for grating, cheddar, potato, butter. (Butter ?)  Williams-Sonoma (Fave store) exclusive, know anyone in the States Tim :) ?

Microplane also have a website listed  http://www.microplane.com/ and it looks like we can buy from there! ;D

Fast & furious! Everyone's doing them.

My only complaint is that, as said earlier, you do need the bigger one for cheese, otherwise the shreds mush together.

Did my horseradish sauce this am with the finest one. Great for ginger, citrus zest, root veg, nutmeg yes, butter yes - for pastry? Etc, etc?

They are expensive EJ, but should last a LONG time! And they are a joy to use ;D

Tim, I hadn't thought of butter for pastry, another try is required!!! The big one is very good for cheese, and now I suppose I can make rough puff! ;D
