Title: Oil Drum
Post by: Roy Bham UK on May 06, 2005, 09:57:16
;D Hi Gang ;D Over the fence on the old allotment ground, there is an old oil drum just waiting to be recycled and a plastic dustbin less lid :D I was wondering what I could use them for on my lottie? Could the drum be used to catch water off of my shed roof? (assuming it doesn't leak) and what use could I make of the dustbin apart from the obvious :D

Many thanks Roy ;)

Be careful if these have been dumped in case there are some nasty chemicals in them. If in doubt  call the Environment Agency who will arrange for them to be removed or if it is a council allotment it is their responsibility as they are the landowners.

If they are not dumped, a water butt might be a good idea as there doesn't appear to have been enough rain  over the winter months and there might be a hosepipe ban!!

We found an old oil drum, drilled a few holes in it and now use it as an incinerator. It seems to get through a ton of couch grass roots a week.

forcing rhubarb, water butt, litter bin, potato tub.  My neighbour uses oil drums for forcing rhubarb and a dustbin, he used the oil drum for a water butt as it had not had anything in it  :)   If the oil drum has not had anything in it then it could be sawn in half lengthways to make a barbecue
