i have a big pile of clay which ive dug out of my patch any ideas on what i can do with it ??? should i chuck it ???
Make bricks? Haven't a clue - but then if I'd dug the clay out of my plot, I'd now be in Tasmania :o
I had a clayey spot on my old plot, and it did become a beautiful couple of beds after a couple of season's working and lots of manure. Now that you've dug it up, how about layering it with manure - and get it back into your plot?
Dunno, and then I "have a real thing" about taking soil off allotments - I don't like to see soil level dropping below path level; what a waste.
Not a lot of help? Sorry ;) - Gavin
Make a cob shed ;D
Or you could be boring + add lots of well rotted organic matter, maybe some sharp sand, don't walk on it too much, make raised beds... ;)
mix with organic matter and plant spuds into it? i hear they help break those clods - well, that is what i am paying them for on my plot ;) so they better had!
Make a clay oven ... see http://www.permaculture.co.uk/mag/Articles/Articles_Menu.html select the appropriate article :)
Make pots. Or weird garden statues. puddle a pond.
I'm throwing mine in a skip!
