Has anyone managed to save a cuc once its toppled over? ??? I have some cucs growing inside - I had to go away for work for 2 days, but have arrived back to find everything has grown like crazy :o(especially the cucs!!). One had actually fallen over, and the stem while not severed, has been injured and is currently oozing some juice... I immediately staked all of the plants and gave a bit of water... OH swears the injury must have happened today as they were fine last night when he checked... The plant is still fairly young... any chance of recovery?? If so, any hints to help it along? thanks very much in advance for any info!! :)Â
Mine fell over a while back and are now trailing along the window ledge, I plan on planting them up over the weekend. That said the stem wasn't weeping on either of them, but I'd keep feeding and watering and see what happens. I've had slugs take a good munch out of the base of cus. and courgettes and they've come through.

Whats a cuc?
Is that an abbreviation?
Sorry to hear about your cucs, whatever they are ???
I'm assuming that it's a cucumber?
I have been known to selotape broken stems of toms and cuces and they have lived to tell the tale..... :-\ Good luck.
??? I had the same happen to a very young courgette only yesterday and assumed it has carked it ???
I second EJ's tip. Last year my beefsteak tomatoes were so heavy that a couple of the stems broke - I used masking tape (and a bit of thin gardening support cane as a splint!) to hold them together and they carried on as normal. Did the same with my Meyer's lemon earlier this year and it worked too. Give it a go - it'd be such a shame to lose the plant at this stage. Good luck!
thanks everyone - I will tape, feed and water and hopefully it will pull through! :D
btw - cuc = cucumber for those who were wondering! ;)
hello everyone, new member here!
following on from the cuc in distress.....i have about 4 cucs and 4 courgettes that i have lovingly nurtured in doors however.......started to harden them off last week in the sun, went out for an hour & in which time the wind had picked up. none of them toppled over but the leaves on them have been drying out & withering up since then. Should i plant them out over the weekend (i'm in london)? they're about 8 inches tall now & in large pots...

Toms are no problem as they will root from the stem - so just rplant with the break in the soil (a la system that Ina mentioned some time ago)
I don't think that curcubits have the same useful habit
