We urge patience. How do you get patience? In the first year, ask. But during that year et seq, do keep a diary.
One could do it like Gavin - professionally, warts & all. Never fails to inspire me & impress me, that site. But I need a quick reference.
For instance, concerned about my peppers - check sowing - 6 days ago - look back to previous sowing - 7days to germinate - check trays more carefully & yes, the first are through. So quickly into full light. Another day & they would have been lanky.
This is not professional but it helps. Especially when it goes back over 40 years!

(Why does that start coming through readable & then diminish??)
i do just love being nosey and reading other people's diaries, records of things like that.
i love your entry half way down "what happened?" and you like me record the "failed"!!
so do tell- what are the little pictures in red at the top-dates of germination and potting on perhaps?
Very much more professional than mine;
could you translate the symbols for us?
? - can't remember!
Germinated.
Potted up.
Planted out.
Harvest.
Does anyone have the Vegetable Gardeners Almanac vegetable plot designer CD, please? It looks a good piece of software but expensive and I would love to borrow one or a similar product, to copy.
I have tried to draw my own plan but with pathetic results and have started numerous lists which seem to disappear ???
Tim is very right, and I have started a spreadsheet diary this year, the columns I have included are:
Crop
Variety
Seed Type
Seed Supplier
Best Before Date
Sowing Date
Sowing Medium
Pots/Trays/Modules/Direct
Germination Date
Transplant Date
Protection Required
Pest Notes
Harvest Dates
Taste Notes
Storage Notes
Other
If anyone wants a copy drop me a PM with your email and I will send it on.
