Does anyone else have a real problem with ants in their lawns? When I went into the garden this morning I found two mounds of fine earth, ants, and it's just the beginning. I can't find a way of getting rid of them. When I've used powder in the past it usually kills the grass too.
Is there a solution?
MM
ask them nicely to move along ... ;D
you should worry-i've got ants in my cupboards..... :(
I've tried that kitty, I've also tried stamping on the b****rs but they just seem to pop up again. Makes me itch just typing about them :(
ants in your cupboard, you need to find what they're after, something sweet I bet.
set them pussycats on 'em, hahaha
MM
Brush the fine soil around on the lawn and forget about them. :)
Be glad they're not moles :o
...or elephants... ;D
I had ants in me cupboard the other day. After me compost pot that had been there for slightly too long without emptying! I think one little blighter must have come in and called up his mates.
quick hoover and the compost box outside and they are gone again :)

And I've got ants on my baby broad beans, planted out about a week ago under cover. >:(......will they eat them?????
Plottie
i am a pest controler (my job) ::)
try for in the cuboard go to B&Q and getting a gelbased killer as they take it down the nest and they all go to the there after
in the garden i have soacked the area and put soap suds on the area
and that might work
i have some good stuff but you can not buy that
good luck
matt ;D
Hi Matt, thanks will give it a try. :) They are a real pain in the summer months as they crawl over the dog and cat when they are sun bathing on the lawn and us if we get a moment to have a sit down.
Kitty, you keep elephants away with little balls of scrunched up tissue paper, well it works for us ;D ;D
MM
Bring on the cull off the ants & mice
after telling you all this i went to my lottie and looked in my compost and you would not adam and eve it
ANTS

If they are not in your house then I would not worry! Just leave them to get on with what ants do best.
yes sexy snail..but merlins mum forgot to mention the ants in herlawn are 6 foot tall...
they grow 'em big in bicester y'know!
kitty ;)
WOW Mutant ants :D
i might change my job if they come up here
or get a saddle....... :o
Sorry, Merlin's mum: we've ruined a perfectly serious question ;D ???
I think the gist is 'don't worry'
Don't worry Clayhithe, I've known kitty for a long time so I wouldn't expect anything less, but I bet that tissue paper has kept elephants away from her house. ;D
