Title: chitting potatoes
Post by: Catherine on April 19, 2005, 22:33:38
??? OK, so we bought joy Larkcom's book (and love it),
read the advice on taking off all but the strongest chits(!) on the potatoes before planting,
and then ONE of us forgot to do it! (the one who happened to have an hour spare for the lottie)
so, do we dig them up or will they be Ok? :-\

They will be fine I am sure! I never bother to remove any chits from mine (cos I am bone idle really!) and get great crops of spuds, though there may be others out there that disagree! ;D

I agree with DP I never remove any of the chits, mind you this years didn't really have enough chits to remove. :(

As said before, more shoots, more smaller fruit: fewer shoots. vice versa!

I often don't bother to chit.

Not convinced it matters.
