:D :D
I have just spent half an hour watching a pair of lapwings doing their display over our garden and the adjacent field. They are mesmerising to watch. They start of together mimicking each others flight, if one dips a wing other does the same. They were swooping upwards then one would peel off and dive off to the left or right at lightning speed towards the ground before coming to a halt then swooping upwards again. Quite a display.Â

Ach, where's the [homesick][/homesick] "smiley" - I love the sight and sound of peewits. But I've only seen a couple around Leeds in years - was just on Sunday, when me and #3 went for a bike ride over to Eccup.
There aren't as many as there used to be :(
All best, Gavin
:D :D
So they say Gavin, but we seem to have loads up here. I counted, yes counted a flock of about 80sh in February when they were swooping in the field behind us. I always see loads as well travelling around the countryside so I think the numbers are maybe down in some parts of the country but not here in the Borders.
;D ;D ;D
Still grinning all over my face - saw two pairs to day; out a bike ride with #2 son. First time he'd seen or heard them - he's still laughing about the sound and their name :)
All best - Gavin
I stood watching the same display this year again. But this has happened a month earlier!!!
