Hi all!! ;D
Anyone heard of and now any details about the Bristol Allotments Association??
Apparently its £1.50 per year to join and they sell all kinds of seeds, equipment etc.!!
Nobbs xx
hi nobby i know that the lotties i have put my name down for at talbot road in brislington has a shop there and if u pay 1.50 u can get cheap seeds netting canes and allsorts u need for your lottie and even sale your own produce to other people but that is all i know hope it helps
Yes Dibberxxx
Apparently there is a lottie off Naggs Head Hill which does the same and we can join!!
Just cannot find any info. on it!!
Nobbs ???
I have an allotment on Talbot Rd site. Had it since Oct 2004, so still ploughing through the weeds - but things are growing. Hope you get one soon Dibber. We were lucky they were getting snapped up pretty quickly. It's a great site to be at as they're spending lots of money on improving the site (partly funded by the nearby hospital being built). Up at our end (the chalet sites - ooh posh or what?), they have planted lots of fruit trees and plonked a couple of picnic tables to encourage the community feel.
We get occassional visits from the older allotment holders with their tips (usually helpful). We have pretty terrible soil (heavy clay) which may be in due down to the rumour that the builders who renovated the site half-inched a lot of the top-soil. Lots of us have opted for raised beds with added compost to give the plants a chance at least until we have a chance to work the soil properly.
We did recently have a delivery of fantastic manure (dumped right on our allotment - the luxury), so that's helping.
I will be looking for lots of tips from the experienced allotment holders on here, and good luck Dibber hope you get your site soon.
Incidentally there are a couple of chalet sites that don't look like anyone is working them (weed infested - grr), perhaps it's worth hassling some more?
wow!!
Luky you - sounds a kool site!!

It's Ray you need to speak to Dibber (can't remember his surname, sorry)
have got back to ray bishop today, he said i have moved up the list from no24 to no16, and i might get a lottie by the end of the year .He also said there about 7 lotties not being work so they will all be recieving a letter by the end of the week so hopefully i wont be waiting to long. :)
A bit further out but I got an lottie in Cheddar.... Hanhams Lane - with views over the Gorge.
We dont seem to have any allotment association - there are another 2 sets of lotties in Cheddar. Its a shame as it would be a good way to pick up seeds and canes and the like cheaply.
yes in Kingswood, just started needs allot of clearing of weeds and old carpets
