Hello all.
We have just taken over an allotment in Sheffield, in a rather overgrown set in Rivelin Valley, near Mill Pond. Just looking for other members in Sheffield, maybe even people with allotments near us.
Reading other posts, we're rather worried about vandalism. What do people recommend - lots of security which might make it seem like there's something worth seing, or none so that the plot can be seen?
Been down a few times to try and meet others, but must be going at wrong time.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Welcome rachel, If you go down to the lottie on a sunny day (If we ever get one!) I'm sure all the other plot holders will be out in force, then you'll be able to gather all the information you need.
There are other posts re vandalism so if you do a search it may help. ;)
Welcome Rachel, and congratulations on getting a lottie.
I have been looking at lotties in my area and friends have been shaking their heads and saying you'll get a lot of vandalism so I started a thread about it only last week, so have a look in 'the basics' vandalism on lotties.
The best time to meet people on the site is the weekend I would have thought and particularly if it's a nice day as it has been here in Oxfordshire.

hi rachel and welcome along.im in sheffield and my lottie is in firth park.any chance of any pics of your allotment.is your allotment a councel one?whats the condition like?if you need any advice just email me.
Hello Sheffield plotters - hope you're enjoying yourselves on your new plots. I'm near Chesterfield (up the Spireites) and have same weather as yourselves so can compare notes.
I was talking to someone with a plot in Mansfield yesterday and he said none of them had been able to get on their allotments at all this year due to their site being waterlogged :o :o :o
So we're lucky to be able to get on ours. Hope you meet your lotty neighbours soon RR and that they are a friendly bunch.
Mine are thank goodness :)
Hiya Rachel, Good Luck with your garden. ;D
Whereabouts are you Wardy?
If you are fairly local maybe you can drop by and have a cup of allotment tea if you are passing by my allotment any time.
My e-mail is in my profile.
