Sorry but i just wanted to say i have a greenhouse now!
I am so pleased with it, 6 x 6 and it is nearly full! At least the windowsills are clear now, i have forgotten what the bedroom looked like! At least i can read stuff in this catogory now!
All the best to everyone
Jemma
Well done Jemma!
Bet you grow loads of lovely tomatoes this year ;D
Moggle - who is very envious :)
I've been building one, well clearing the site and preparing anyway, for what seems like an age now, although in truth it's only a few days spread across a few weeks.
I'm making it out of an old packing crate used to deliver some machinery to my old place of work, and an 800 square foot sheet of industrial polythene that some kindly soul gave me. It'll be about 10' x 6' when done, and I guess I'd better get a move on if it's to be used this year.
I have half the frame built, and hope to get it finished in the next couple of weeks (if I can find enough wood).
I've already got the toms and pepper seedlings on the windowsill, and I'm hoping to grow a few cucumbers too.
I was going to try melon, but would I be a bit late to start now?
That is great. 6*6 is not huge but who cares??-enjoy it.
Stephan
Robin - no!
Good luck with your greenhouse :)
How exciting! Soon you will be wanting another! ;D ;D
Doris, Wardy you beat me to it.
Well done GardenerJ. Pic of mine in Gallery, also nearly full, and more to go in soon as empty curry takeaway boxes on window sill are sprouting again. You will never have enough room!!
:) :)
Well done Jemma, Have lots of fun,
And well done Robin too :) :) Off to a good start.

YAY! No place like it. My little goldfish bowl heaven on earth. ;D
Jemma - haveyou got a pic for us to see? and I'd also just love to see Robin's marvellous sounding creation.
Oh do send us some snaps. ;D ;D
Marvellous sounding? It's not marvellous looking, that's for sure. ;)
OK, I'll take a couple of pics later.
2 1/2 months later, and I've finally been bothered to work out how to post an image.
This is the frame before the poly.

Sorry about the size...will rectify that later.
Rectified.
And Roy, thanks, but then it wouldn't be from me, would it? :)

If you modify your post by cancelling it, all will be well. ;D
A very sturdy frame, should last forever ;)

Can't wait for these to be ready.(http://img249.echo.cx/img249/1731/p6270083a0ek.jpg)
Robin, who's a cleverboy then? It's brilliant - you've done really well building it - looks great. 10ft x 6ft - bigger than mine and size really does matter here ;D ::)
Terri ;D 8)
Best thing is, it didn't cost me a penny... ;D ;D
Alright you don't have to rub it in!!! ;) ::) ;D

Steve, can you not join the two greenhouses together to make one structure? ???
That's exactly what I did..tandem two greenhouses and have one large one
Derek
If only I could the max size allowed is 8x6 other plots have larger sheds & g/houses but that’s before he took over the Lotty
(Still not happy) but what can I do!
There’s even a few people down there that moan about the glass in the one I have saying that if kids brake in at night & smash it up they might fall over and cut themselves?????
The answer would seem to be that they don't break in
I think that, even in this politically country, provided you don't wire up the frame to the mains to electrocute them if they touch it you are safe from any legal outcome of vandalism!!!
Phil
Well done enjoy the green house it makes it soooo much easier !!!
Steve I presume they have a max size written into the agreement for site ?
although i must say ours seemed quite generous a green house of 13 * 9 and a shed to the size of 10 * 8 ft not bad i suppose
apparently they wont let me store my caravan on there !!!! and neither will the wife as she reckons to like to see me now and again ! lol
carl
Well, we've taken the plunge, too. I've just bought a second hand greenhouse, which will be put onto the allotment in the coming months. It's quite big - 10' by 17' - so next year we'll be looking at some serious toms, cucumbers, and aubergines.
Here it is in its current location. I pick it up in 3 weeks time:

And I was toying with the idea of a grapevine. ;D ;D
Plenty of scope there, Melbourne
Congrats

Thanks. To be honest, I'm a bit nervous about it. I haven't grown anything under glass since I was a lad. Our garden is too small for even a modest greenhouse, so there's going to be a bit of a steep learning curve.
But I'm sure it'll be a bit of fun.
My old uncle has a greenhouse like that and it has a stove outside it which he puts coal in to warm it up in spring ready for doing his bedding plants and veggies. It looks a really good buy M12 and you'll have great fun with it. I hope to have one soon. At the mo I have four small windowframes joined together but it's home to peppers and cucumbers, oh and some slugs too ;D
You're growing slugs wardy?
For the barbie? ;D ;D
I'm growing slugs very well thanks ;D  It's very easy. They're a bit chewy though ;D ;D Here is my new greenhouse complete with slug trap (bottom left)
4 old windowframes screwed together and some old wire found on plot for supporting the weight of all my cucumbers (dream on)
My new "greenhouse" is working well and I have a good sized cucumber on. Nearly picked it last night but I wanted OH to see it in situ or he wouldn't believe I'd grown it. Everytime I get back from the plot with veggies he asks me who's grown them. Me you fool ;D  I showed him my massive courgette last night and guess what? "Who grew that". Really! :)

I have a 12' x 8' greenhouse which has earth inside and a path down the centre. I put in a raised bed too
The amount of stuff I have grown in there this year has been beyond my wildest dreams...have fun ...put in anything and watch it go.
I use a smaller 8' x 6' (with an additional 4' extension) to raise the seeds plus tomatoes and peppers
Derek
I love the greenhouse. Should have got one years ago. Have fun!!
hey enjoy the green house you can grow all sorts of strange stuff ive got some very strange weeds coming through the floor at the mo dont want to pull them waiting to see what they turn in to! triiffids ?????____________________?
4 years on -
I spent all day Sunday recovering the thing with scaffold sheeting - Monarflex- as recommended by gardengt44 at a cost of about £50.
It seems very strong and maybe I'll get 4 more years out of it.
Just gotta get the tomatoes in it. :)
