Just bought a great little timer for automatic watering via a hose connected to an outside tap. Only £12.99, works off two AA batteries, and has lots of functions for watering. Horse equipment next week! Visit the Lidl website,

thanks for the lidl info, i shall now keep an eye on the web for future offers as it is quite a trek to my nearest store just on the off chance of there being something i need/want. I wish I'd seen this last week as there are a few things last week I would have found usefull. never mind, next time round! :D

If your store is like my local one, they do keep things on display until they are sold, even knocking the price down to clear the last few. Give your store a ring to see if they have what you are looking for.
