Hi everybody,
I have some mint and sage in pots (but outside), and for both of them the leaves (mostly older leaves) are turning mottled with small yellow patches all over the leaves. The young leaves are fine, but as they grow they become mottled as well.
I thought this was due to the weather turning cold and maybe the plants reaching the end of their cycle, but I'd rather ask the experts!
Many thanks
My mint has gone like that, I assumed it was just ageing and the dry summer. My sage, on the other hand, got seriously cut back in about june and is now a mass of lovely healthy new growtn, the few odd leaves that missed the chop have just dried up completely.
Anyone know much about mint rust, or have I imagined that?
Mint rust causes yellow lumps on the stems - it's quite distinctive. Not sure about mottled leaves.
I think it's just the old leaves dying off.
All right, thanks all. BTW, I have some mint in my allotment (i.e. in the ground), and I can see the same phenomenon, although to a lesser extent...
