Hi - Apologies if this is a really stupid newbie question
Ive got some lovely Rhubarb plants on my plot so i ordered some new crowns. The plot is quite heavy due to recent rainfall, am i best putting them in the sodden soil now or putting in pots and transferring when things have dried out a little ? any help/advice gratefully received
As long as you are not actually planting them in a pond Rhubarb doesn't mind heavy moisture retaining soil. The biggest problem buying crowns is them drying out too much. So either is fine!
I'll second that - we've got rhubarb on our allotments on plots that flood regularly in winter so, as long as you don't need water wings to get them into the ground, they should be fine. I'd get them in as soon as you can get onto the plot without losing a boot!
thanks everyone - they'll go in this weekend
