Noticed this barrow a couple of allotments down from me, the lady has even bought a new wheelbarrow. Wish I could have the old one, seems a waste.
The second image was handed to me by another allotmenteer. He took this photo a few years ago to show me what my potatoes should look like ( Yes in my dreams, look at the cabbages as well)
Now that's a bright idea - especially for pink fir, which gets itself everywhere!

I've inherited an really old barrow, the wheel is useless and it's got rusty holes. I'm planning to grow some herbs in it.
Would it work to make supports like those ones for the spuds for my raspberries?
I grew a squash out of my old holey non-working wheel barrow last year! Might do flowers in it this year by way of a change, or cougettes!
Now is it just me, or is that potato grower bordering on fanatical! ;) (But as Tim says, what a brilliant idea! ;D

no, not just you. that kind of perfection makes me very nervous, such high standards to live up to! It does look lovely and neat though, I don't think I'll have the time to be that neat :)
The barrow is just brilliant - I wonder what will flower there after the daffs? And as for the spuds? Well my one little barrel looks a bit naff compared to all those! And do they really grow that tall? Surely not?
nice use for an old barrow i suppose. like the spud idea. last time i didnt have a clu where the rows were. they blended into one. pain when i had to walk donw them, my boots would come out full of leaves and soil and junk. never seen them that big but maybe thats beacuse they tend to trail a bit and spread over the floor.
I use wooden posts like those in the picture, not for potatoes but for broad beans and possibly may try for peas this year.
Treated wood obtained from B and Q £8.00 approx cut in half (makes 16 posts altogether). String from one post to next at 3 diferent heights.

Pink Fir, for a start, grow to at least 4'.
I will find out what variety, looks like it was a second crop potato according to the title of the image.
tidy looking site. I like the brick sheds. look very substantial. :) barrows come and go! bit like bikes. You could easy take the daffs out when they're finished and use the barrow again. :)
