Title: Bargains
Post by: Anne Robertson on April 04, 2005, 15:46:45
Could we have a thread to tell about any bargains that are available. I was lucky enough to get 300 different sized biodegradable pots for £3 from Bookers. What do I do with all my saved toilet roll inners now! ??? Don't know if all the Bookers are selling them off or just Chester one.

You will find ani that when we spot a bargain, we all go out and buy it first and then post it on here so everybody else gets a turn - that is my experience of this baord anyway - and it works fine.  I have saved a packet.

bakker.co.uk 25 asparagus crowns for a tenner, 25 perpetual strawberries for 7.95.

also for seeds, why not join national society for allotment and leisure gardeners, you get a reported 25 percent off with a catalogue from kings seeds, but when the seeds come, sometimes the price on the back is nearly double what you're asked for it.  real bargains and some nice varieties!

Kings, in addition to have a very extensive vegetable list, offer 2 schemes, one for the NSALG and one for any gardening group the basic discount for groups is 35% off catalogue price and it you can get enough to join your group and buy >£150's worth, you get 50%

I think Garden Centres get around 66% off so they are making 200% profit - so their 50% off sales still gives them a 50% margin (and they return unsold seed!!)

Ta for that info Phil.  I got my order from Kings not realising that my gardening group is a member of NSALG so I could have got a discount.  Doh  :(
