It's been some time since we had a competition so will see if there is still an appetite for one so please start submitting your photos for the Autumn Competition
The subject this time chosen by Peanuts the winner of the last competition is
"Beasties, creepy-crawlies and insects"
Either send me a pm with your picture or email to me at ramjamman at hotmail dot com (make sure you include your user name if using email please)
Try and submit entries by the end of the first week in October
Just wondering if anyone is interested in this
First entry received thank you Tee Gee
Looks like the photo competitions are a thing of the past ???
Anyone interested at all besides Ace?
....only a thought!.......Could the subject matter "Beasties, creepy-crawlies and insects" be off putting.
I wouldn't have thought many people would take pictures of such subjects.
A few replies might give us an idea.
I'm in, only got back from my "expotition" 2 days ago!
Iam interested in keeping the competition running Davyboi but have no decent photographs of insects. I will enter in future competitions though.
Duke👍🏻
Well the subject can be interpreted in a broad sense ... some animals are known as beasts for example... slugs to spiders.... crabs to snakes and of course all the usual bees, wasps, greenflies, ladybirds etc.
Sorry if subject isn't sufficiently inspiring! I just find that looking around the garden and veg patch, nature has so much to amaze us, including insects etc. Much of it beautiful, much of it extraordinary.
I've been away, but will send in an entry tomorrow.
Personally I think it is a good subject but then I like taking pics of butterflies, spiders and other assorted creatures..
Having run quite a few of these I can honestly say that you can never please everyone and it is really hard to get people to take part. However if we can run them regularly then perhaps the topic should be picked in advance so as to encourage people to get out taking pics.
Very wide ranging subject... ideal.
Quick update
I now have entries from
1 Peanuts
2 Pescador
3 Tee Gee
Get looking and snapping or review your recent pictures as a few more entries would be appreciated
will do emailed you two photos :)
A couple more entries would be welcome
See the top post on how to submit.
How do people feel if I use more than one entry from the same person?
OK by me but I can't see the point if only two or three people are placing entries as it basically means they are competing against there own work, but. I will go with the majority!
OK by me too, but it wold be best of all to have more people entering! These days, with smart phones, it is so easy to take photos, and it is a good season for the subject. A beautiful snail on a leaf, spiders webs galore, i see them every time I go in the garden.
Encouragement to everyone!
OK by me too but no time to take pics today and, as the drought continues, the interesting critters appear to be lying low anyway.
5 entries now I will wait until the end of the week to see if we get some more so get snapping please
Quick update I now have the following entries
1 Peanuts
2 Pescador
3 Tee Gee
4 Cambourne7
5 DrJohnH
6 Barriedalenick
7 Obelixx
Hi Dave
Just a little point! ( my past exhibiting experience coming out)
In any form of competition I prefer to remain anonymous until the results are issued but don't know about the others perhaps they could let us know their thoughts!
Another thing I prefer to do is only enter one exhibit in any class as too often I have seen too many people put more than one entry in a class only to try and win points to get most points in the show. I once saw an exhibitor win most points in a show yet did not register a win in any class!
OK in this competition this this will not apply unless we go ahead and allow more than one entry, and as I have said previously I don't mind in this case!
The next thing I am expecting is people asking for more than one vote (as has happened in the past) which personally I don't like. As I see it there can only be one winner!
In the past I have always placed one entry, voted once, and never voted for my own photo.
However I will go along with the majority what ever we decide here, after all this exercise / competition is just for a bit of fun, but as always people who enter always want to win (myself included) so lets see how this first batch of photos fair, then we can look to see if we need any rule changes.
Hope these comments do not offend anyone as this is the last thing I want to do!....Tg
All valid points TeeGee! Seems fair enough to me. But to add- if sufficient entries, it would be nice to have 1st, 2nd, 3rd rather than just a winner though- so those of us with less experience can see how we fared if we came close ;-)

The reasons I posted who has submitted is in the past I found that the odd entry hadn't been received . Also I thought it might encourage others to join in.

I agree and luckily we do not need to do this now as we have a reasonable number of entries.

I agree in principal and I am the guilty one for introducing the more than one vote when we were getting 12 to 14 entries as it was so hard to choose who to vote for at times . This time back to one vote only with the fewer entries
Hope these comments do not offend anyone as this is the last thing I want to do!....Tg
Fine with me

We always show how many votes each entry received and who submitted each entry in order from winner to last. :toothy10: :toothy10:
And the winner gets to choose the subject for the next competition
Having received a couple more entries I will close the entry phase tomorrow evening
So please if you wish to enter submit your entry as soon as possible
Thanks
I love the photo comps. Have got alovely friendly spider in my bath, but main computer needs money to repair, so as an old age idiot cant
Post photos from tablet, so no photos of beautiful cat or allotment at present. I expect u will say thank heavens. Look forward 2 seeing the pictures.
Despite a technology melt down with the camera and a camera shy subject at last an email has winged it's way to Daveboi. Thank you for organising the competition.
Will close for entries in a hour
Voting will start soon after
Thank you all for the entries
