Over the last few years a shrub has appeared in the area I reserve for fruit bushes/trees on my allotment and I can't identify it. It is multistemmed, grows to about 2 feet tall and has red stems and serrated brown leaves . At first I thought it was the rootstock of something that died off but I have never seen it flower let alone produce any fruit. At first there was one of them but now there are a few more.

Could it be a young cherry tree? They often start off with bronze foliage.
Looks like a beech to me.
It looks very much like a seedling copper beech to me
