On the way back from a colleague's retirement do, decided to pop in the local well to do garden centre.
Plants not too expensive, ok range, then I noticed some very nice terracotta pots with lions heads on piled at the back of the greenhouse. They looked used, mossy and had a plastic tag on, but no price, so I asked at the till if they were for sale.
"Oh no", said the saleswoman, " They belong to customers, they are waiting to be planted up for them then we deliver them back"!
I was gobsmacked!!
Don't worry they will not be private gardens. I used to plant up planters and troughs for pubs, car showrooms, business premises entrances etc. I would take them away and deliver them back full and in flower with instructions. Some I maintained every month. Good little earner.
I worked in a nursery as did my wife and we both used to plant up customers hanging baskets etc.
