This allotment at our complex was recently vacated. All lotties are rented out clean here. It does look a bit forlorn doesn't it? Empty lotties look so big. Since there is a waiting list, this one will look all nice again this summer, they always do.

Gosh Ina that's a caring kind of council you've got there. Most folk get an absolute dump to take on. I think my lotty must be on the site of a former glass works! Oh and tyre factory ;D Strangely I've also noticed lots of animal bones (or are they)? Could be Shergar or Lord Lucan ;D
Our city councils have nothing to do with lotties at all, they are run by their own committees. Almost all complexes are on land rented from the city but ours is privatly owned.
As I have explained before, every member has to do two mornings a season of communal work, this way the complex and empty lotties stay clean and tidy. When you rent a lottie, you pay a deposit that you get back only when you leave it clean, otherwise you lose it and the lottie gets cleaned for you. There's a very strict building code as well.

Few plots down from me, the lad had hired one of these small JCB diggers - you know, the little ones that run on rubber bands, for digging holes in pavements (several times over :( )!
Hmmph! He managed to do in an afternoon what it's taken me six months to do.
