PIGS EARS IN HONEY BUTTER
Found Mum and Dads Oberstdorf Plate from 1955 so wondered what i could serve on it with Coffee today,..so,found the idea for Pigs Ears in Dads German Kuchen Book.
INGREDIENTS
1 pkt frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons honey/Honig
Cinnamon for sprinkling (OPTIONAL)
Extra sugar for sprinkling..(OPTIONAL)
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees c /400 degrees F.
Cut and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Put the butter and honey in a small measuring cup, cover loosely with a piece of Kitchen towel and microwave until butter has melted. Stir with a spoon.
On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry sheets.
Brush all over with the honey butter mixture.
And sprinkle with Cinnamon if you wish
Roll up each wide end till they meet in the middle.
Brush the top with more honey butter.
cut ½ inch slices and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush a little more honey butter on any dry parts of the pastry and brush more on the top.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
remove from the baking sheet and place on a wire rack
Brush each top again with Honig/honey Butter.
After 5 minutes, Brush the tops again with Honig/honey butter and allow them to cool.
Serve with fresh Coffee
Store in an airtight container....correction ....put the airtight container away...as there wont be any to go in it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've always called those palmiers!
Pigs' ears are for doggies - in this house anyway - although I have seen them raw and on sale in the supermarket along with half heads, whole heads, jawbones.......... and pigs' cheeks are expensive here, not a cheap cut.

well they are officially German Schweine Ohren....but I just used Pigs ears as that's the translation to English.
Dads German cook book dates back to 1955 but I just found it on the web as well ......yes they go by lots of names.
bloody delish with a cuppa Tea......took some down to mum in the care home and she loved em.......job done.

d**n - thought it was really going to be a pigs ears! Had them in Spain and they were lovely - just like a nice bit of crackling..
