CRUMB CAKE
INGREDIENTS
You need:
A 26cm (approx10 inch) springform tin
200 gr/8oz butter
200 gr/8oz sugar (I would use caster)
1 egg
Grated rind of a lemon
500 gr/20oz flour (I would think plain as it doesn't need to rise much)
1 teaspoon baking powder
450 gr/18oz Morello Cherry Jam
50 gr/2oz ground almonds
4 tablespoons icing sugar
Butter to grease the tin
Serve with Quark/Double Cream
To make:
Cream together the butter sugar, egg and grated lemon rind. Mix together the flour and baking powder and add some ( it says a tablespoonful at a time) to the butter, sugar egg mix, and mix thoroughly. Add the rest of the flour , bit by bit, using your fingers to mix until crumbly.
Press half the mix in to the bottom of the buttered tin, spread Cherry filling on top, then add the ground almonds to the remaining mix and crumble over the filling.
Place in the oven 180c/300f for about 50 minutes.
Allow to cool, then sprinkle with icing sugar

Looks good but does it taste good?
I have made banana gingerbread this morning. It is now wrapped in foil for 3 days to mature, just in time for OH to take a few slices to the golf on Sunday for him and his partner. Hoping it will help them play better in this competition cos they've been rubbish so far.
And while he's away I shall play.......... Pity garden centres and the like don't open on Sundays round here.
There is an easy answer to that make it and you can answer your own question..........
I think it is a pretty fair bet that it tastes as good as it looks :drunken_smilie:
Oh my goodness that does look good ! I can even smell it from here ! mmmmmmm Debbie :)
Looks delicious; will try it. I made a bread loaf today with Belbake flour from Lidl's and it was the best bread I ever made.
Excellent with plums too
