Title: Sowing Novice...
Post by: quinny on April 02, 2005, 09:25:27
I've just bought a 4 tier mini-greenhouse (plastic).  I have in it the following seedlings:-

1. Toms 2. Little Gems 3. Peas. 4.Broad Beans 5. Garlic bulbs starting.
6. Aquilegia 7. Star of the Veldt

I have a Oregon sensor in there which tells me the soil temperature from the house and one that tells me the greenhouse temp also (and the pond water temp! - great gadget!).  It's ranging from 6c (night) to 12c(day).  Now it's just occurred to me that these seedlings are not going to budge until the weather really warms up.

Should I bring all my seed trays into the house until they germinate and then put them in my minigreenhouse?

I really have no clue...   I'm just winging it here...  I know my garlic should be in the ground already - I'll tackle that today...

Any help greatly appreciated.    ???

I'm no expert but I think I would be bringing them in at night and put them out in the greenhouse during the day if it's going to be nice.

I think if nothing else your tomatoes will need to come into the house at night.  I think they need to be kept quite warm for a while yet.  Check the backs of your seeds packets for the information about after care

That's it decided - the Toms are coming in and they can sit with the chillies until i see some action...  Then I'll put them out during the day and in at night...  Thanks for the info MM and Wardy!
