I'm pleased with my Garden Pearl toms grown outside this year, but they are sprawling over the ground and I found one nibbled by (I presume ) a slug today. Is it worth trying to keep them off the ground, and if so how do you do it?
id lay a piece of strawberry netting under the tomatoes gently lift them and tie netting to a cane job done light and air can still pass thru hope this helps
Would never have thought of that- thanks! Do you think scaffold netting would do? It's all I've got!

Yes! Providing it is all above the ground when the weight goes on it
I use a really deep mulch... we have regular deliveries from tree surgeons/gardening companies who have shreddings... that works for me.
That's reminded me, I've got a bag or to of spent hops that I was saving for my leeks, so might put those down under the toms.
