Thought I would try some new variety of sweet potato this year, but not wanting to fork out £15 for six slips which seems to be the standard price, I thought I might pick up just one from a garden centre. I happened to be in B&Q and was told they would have some "in a couple of weeks". A month later and after numerous visits I was told they had sold out, but I'm not sure there ever were any. I also tried a local garden centre where I was told they would be in during June, but today I was told they don't have them. So I wonder whether anybody has seen individual sweet potato plants for sale through any retailer that may operate in my area, that being Sheffield. I have grown Beauregard but wasn't impressed with the flavour so am hoping for another variety to try. Any help appreciated.
I wish I could find a local supplier. I ordered some off T&M - arrived in terrible condition and most died. Got a refund so ordered some from Marshalls - same again arrived bare rooted (barely rooted too) and they look terrible and cant see how they will grow on. Would love to see some available locally but have never seen any.
I'm in Derby and our local "Wyevale" at Findern had individual potted up slips available when I last went in... 3 or 4 varieties.
That's great news. Not sure where my nearest Wyevale is though. I'll get straight on it.
I find them @H@m£ BQSE
