I've just received my first blight watch warning! Never had one this early before :BangHead:.
Two nights of above 10C and 90% humidity triggered it!
Tricia
That is early! Some of mine are only just through, and I'm still worrying about late frost.
At the risk of adding another pessimistic comment, I inspected my gooseberries this morning and while they are currently growing strong and looking very healthy, I could see a fair number of adult sawfly on the bushes especially on the new growth. Most annoying.
Any tips on coping with either problem? I could earth up my second earlies so if under the soil they might avoid the blight? Also with sawfly should I try to eradicate the adults or spray against the caterpillars?
IMHO The latter is probably the best option as the fly will have most likely layed its eggs already!
That's a 'blooming' early warning - don't bode well for this year's spuds does it :(
blight warning yesterday in somerset, I have given in and put two tomatoes under cover in a wall greenhouse. Doesn`t sound at all good this year, loads more rain and warmth to come this week
Three in a row of the new Hutton's here in rainy Wales. Most of my tatties are still tucked up in bed so ok for a little bit!
