Hello :)
I am loking to replace the drive belt for a howard 300 and I cannot find the size I require anywhere. I could buy it of fleabay for the howard 300/350 but for a rather expensive price. If I knew the size of the belt then I could get one from a local drive belt supplier near where I live :)
Thanks all in advance :)
Ok, had a look and Howard have the belt on their site for £15 plus about £5 for delivery.
If you have the old belt then take it to the supplier near you and see if they can match it. If you don't have the old belt then set the two drive wheels as far apart as possible and take a piece of string and wrap it around the belts to find the internal length for the belt. You could also take off one of the drive wheels and take that to the supplier with your measurement.
Hope this helps if no one can come up with the exact dimensions.
Bill
If you can get the genuine belt for this all the better
The belts for these applications are often specialist and run of the mill belts of the same size do not drive as well or last as long as I have found out by experience with my Mountfield two wheeled tractor and the rough grass cutter.
Thanks for your replies and advice :)
Our site's Merrytiller needed a new belt recently, I took the old one a Motor parts , place, they used to have racks of them for a fiver, but no longer..... took it to a local industrial parts place , man at desk took it out the back matched it perfectly , " how much" I said " Errrrr 10 quid " he said adding "with no receipt" I shoved a note in his hand, saw him put it in his pocket as I left ...
