I have about 400g of blackcurrants that I would like to make into jam or jelly. What would be the best fruit to combine with blackcurrants to make up to 1kg?

IMHO Apples!
I wouldn't. They'll swamp the flavour of any other fruit like raspberries or apples or blackberry.
Just reduce the sugar proportionally. I make my jelly with spices - cinnamon stick, star anise, vanilla depending - and that makes a nice twist on the usual flavour.
I have used elderberries with blackcurrants (there may still be some on the trees where you are). Its spectacularly lovely!
Good idea. I used elderflower cordial with my purple gooseberries to make jam and it's really good.
Thanks everyone. I now have a good idea of the various options. I'm thinking of combining blackcurrant juice (extracted by using my pressure cooker) with shop bought clear apple juice and some home made elderflower cordial to make jelly. I may even add a shot of Cassis. I bought the Cassis for a specific recipe ages ago - the bottle has been sitting in the cupboard ever since!
I'm thinking jelly as I don't like the rather large pips in blackcurrants. Any thoughts?

Look ahead! Soon be time to plant more bushes, next year you could have enough to make a proper batch!
Ancellsfarmer - don't have room in my small walled garden. In fact, I'm considering getting rid of the one huge blackcurrant bush to give the Reuben blackberry more space as I prefer blackberries anyway!
