Three hares dashing around in the field behind the house this afternoon-I have never seen it before-quite an amazing sight.

A hare raced through my finger tips last summer at the allotment. Really really made me jump! The NT were up on the common choping down trees and strimming and they drove hares and deers our way! Fortunately they all moved on before scoffing our crops.
The only time I have ever seen a badger alive was as it ran across the road in front of us coming home late one night. Didn't hit him, Ava is far to good a driver for that, but it really was only a glimpse. Would love to see them 'properly'.
Lucky old you Stephan. What is dashing around behind our house I wonder, just looking out the window....oh, the bloke across the way is cleaning his windows. Oh the glamour of rural Essex! :-\
took dog out early this morning and saw 2 hares "boxing" standing on hind legs and I got very close and watched them without them realizing I was there. One of the few times I forgot to take camera-but never mind a great site.
Hi Kitty
We have lots of badgers roaming around our village ! There are quite a few badger setts in the woods nearby. A bloke in the village regularly goes down to one particular sett after dark to take photos, and shows anyone interested his slides. Wonderful.
I was once driving just up the lane, and a family of 3 badgers dashed out of the hedge, ran along the road, then back into another field. Amazing sight !
But, inevitably, we also find them dead by the roadside. :(
I've seen them and it gave me a bit of a shock, I thought they were just a bit bigger than a rabbit, but once you see them you know its a hare and they are huge. A lovely sight.
I saw a badger one evening as I was driving home from the pub. It ran along the side of the road for quite a while and I was able to drive slowly behind it before it ran off into the hedge. Huge creatures! It's not until you see them at close quarters that you realise just how big they are. What a privelege ;D
We have Macdonalds wrappers and larger louts frolicking at the rear of our house. The wildest thing we get are grey squirrels and foxes. I would love to have more furry visitors.
