Put the new plants into the Front Garden
So What have you done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets have the news and pleasant reports ;)
Unfortunately nothing, cos I have been feeling icky :'( :'( :'( :'(
Oh the plans I had............................but on the plus side, I managed to read 3 books! :)
Well, this morning I washed a chicken's bottom - one of our hens is a black cochin, very fluffy bottom and feathered feet which make her look as if she is wearing moon boots. Anyway, her rear end was not a pretty sight as one of the drawbacks of so many feathers is a claggy bottom. She coped well with the indignity of it all and OH helped to dry her off with the hairdryer. She skipped away to join the others, damp but a great deal lighter :)
After that we cleaned out the chicken houses. Then I topped up all the garden bird feeders, planted some sweetpea seeds (hope I'm not too late with these but have to get the timing right as we are off to Berlin for a short break and don't want to leave too many jobs for our tame chicken minder to take on as well)
Now I'm catching up on my email and reading what everyone else has been up to.
Haven 't we been lucky with the weather this weekend!
Back to work tomorrow, stiff knees permitting, and then off to Berlin on Weds - can't wait.
Well spring sprung in West Deeping today, just in from the first full day of the season.
Masses of pricking out-one can get fed up with tomatoes!!,a load of digging, and sowed carrots and planted the Jerusalem Artichokes.
Stephan
Misty morning, but nice now. Spent half the morning building a hyper-tufa wall in the Alpine house (more on that later in another thread elsewhere).
Then did a little weeding in the Bee border.
Then started removing the weeds from an old pond where the liner has been punctured by one plant or other, so we are going to turn it into a bog garden to grow Primula in. 8 barrow loads of Iris foetida rhizomes and still more to come out!
After dinner we will start again
Been a busy weekend at home with nothing done on the allotment but will have some time this week to visit the allotment.
Helped OH cut about 6ft off the top of our hedgerow (hasn't been done for 5 years so was well overdue for a trim). Then had the enormous mountain of branches to shred, some of them got burned and have kept the ashes for my tomato plants later in the summer.
Cleaned out the hen house, looks like a palace once again. I am leaving some eggs in the nest box now in the hope that one of them will go broody so we can hatch some chicks.
Weeded the garden, a breeze by comparison to our allotment! Planted out the rest of my sweetpeas. Mowed the lawn, if you could call it that, with the hedgerow being to high over the past few years we have loads of moss growing in there now so that's going to be another job, raking it all out and sowing some new seed in the bare patches. Should get lots of light now that the hedge is shorter.
Sowed loads of flower seeds, most of which will be grown on the allotment for cut flowers. Discovered that Gerbera seeds are expensive, packet of about 15 seeds cost £2.54! Hope they all germinate successfully at that price.

Well Done so Glad to Hear the Gardening Bit Haha ;)
Have had mum over so took advantage. Mark telephoned a lady who stables horses to see if we could have some poo, and what do you know, I now have a compost heap full to the brim with lovely hot horse manure, no straw or shavings, all from the field, so lovely and clean! She told me as we had a boot full she has another pile that is a couple of years old and it is all mine next visit! What a good bank holiday Monday!
Sorry you are still poorly DP. This is lingering isn't it. There has been a lot of it at the kids school and some have been off for 2 weeks. Not good. Hope you feel better soon.
Cleaning a chooks bum on bank holiday Monday...well why not! ;D
Would love a lump of your iris for our pond Eric. I have just purchased a yellow water lilly and a bullrush for the pond and I still think it needs more plants.
All in all, busy peeps!

Sorry to hear you been icky Doris, wonder if its the same 'virus' I have. According to Mother she has never seen me so bad with a 'cold', OH agrees with her for once!!!
As for the weather, well it has been horrendous here since last night with non stop rain. The roads, fields and everything is flooded, some bloomin' Easter weather.Â
Glad the rest of you managed to get some work done on your lottys and gardens. I would need 'waders' to go into mine.
Cheers
Carol :)
Hope your better now too!!
Also hope that the weather improves for you
so that you can get out and about in the Lottie or Garden.
Got my first spuds in, sowed carrots and parsnips. Stroked my seeds (thanks for the reminder :)).
Jumped for joy that my tomato seedlings have emerged!
Spent saturday arvo at the lottie put in 20 concorde spuds. Dug some more - got myself a blister :( Broad beans and peas starting to pop up :)
Sowed some loose-leaf lettuce in a grow-bag. Sowed chives, sweet peas, cucumber, peppers and pumpkin.
Read my HDRA encyclopedia of organic gardening - got obsessed with having a pond - not allowed on my lottie and no garden of my own :( Had a look at aquatic plants in the garden centre any way :)
wow moggle - that avatar of yours scares me :D ;)
digging on friday, putting in spud on saturday. checked on fruit bushes - they all seem to take. :)
watered seedlings: radishes are well through, some pinach and lamb's lettuce showing too
though i fear the woodlice will have a few of them, too :(
went to the tip to cart of some bags of rubble from previoous clear up operations - peeked into the rubbish bin, and found a huuuuuge round tub there, also plenty of large and very small plastic pots. 'stole' them from the council - the big tub and pots to be used for plants where i have a concrete bit of the plot (which i wont be able to dig up this year) - the little ones for potting on toms and such
this weeks indoor seedlings doing well - i am quite chuffed
sowed brassicas yesterday, in seed trays but in stations. will see how that does
also a lot of DIY (we only moved two months ago) - still plenty to do as well
svea
Has been a total wash out in Whitley Bay all Easter . First we had the sea fret, thick cold and wet. and then we had the all out rain. Very miserable and nasty. So no garden or allotment work done at all. Just took a walk up there and looked around but the place was deserted. So it has been very frustrating, with all our plans gone haywire. Been couch potatoes and watched the telly.  :'(Â
Get well soon DP. :) busy_lizzie

Still waiting for my Potatoes to arrive they are promised for this week.................next year I'll get them locally and not bother with Postal Ordering.
Parnips Im pleased with First time they are nearly all showing in the Toilet Roll Holders!!
Maybe I'll try the same with the Carrots Waiting a little while longer for the Weather
Glad you remembered your seeds!!
glorious couple of days.
Didn't do much in the garden on Friday or Saturday. But did spend a good few hours wondering round and looking at everything on early Saturday evening. The wallflowers look and smell gorgeous. So sweet and honey-like and they shine like golden rays of sun. I'm definitely doing them again. Also watched the pond for ages.
Sunday afternoon had a marathon seed time. Pricked out tomatoes, basil, peas, french beans, broad beans. Then sowed courgettes, squashes, asparagus, marigolds and something else (i forgot, but it is labelled).
monday - sieving. The stones have now been sieved out of the soil and the soil is in the new raised bed, number two. I watered it with coffee and in two weeks, my 2nd and main spuds will go in. It took ages to do that one (we had a huge pile of soil to work through) but it's finally finished. I was also planning on planting the rest of my 1st and 2nd spuds in bags, but ran out of time. Nevermind I'll get them done after work in the evening! hooray for light evenings.
Moggle :D
