My new allotment is starting to take shape properly now after lots of hard work. Today I am going to sow my first seeds directly & I am stupidly excited about it :icon_cheers: :toothy10:
Going to sow peas, mangetout & sugar snaps today.
Spuds will go in very soon. Purple beans first week of May. Then mid May full on sowing of lots of yummy stuff.
I've got cucumbers, butternuts & courgettes coming along at home plus leeks & corn.
So looking forward to lovely home grown organic fruit & veg at harvest time.
Good on you, excited sounds the right word for getting a new plot in order and about to sow seeds, I'd be well :blob7: too!
Good luck with your first sowings and hope the weather is better than here!
Thanks Jayb I'm just getting ready to go to my plot now...couldn't wait to get hubby off to work this morning Ha Ha. Weather is being very strange here, hot sun, hailstones, sleet all in one day at the weekend. Fingers crossed for a rain free time at allotment today...I was building raised beds in pouring rain yesterday
Crazy weather here in Kent! Started this morning in lovely sunshine warm enough to just have a t shirt on on top...just as I was leaving my plot a heavy downpour of large hailstones attacked me & it is freezing cold now.
Anyway managed to get one row of peas, sugar snaps & mangetout in plus the netting covers on so all is good
Glad to see you guys are getting on with your outdoor sowing.
No chance up here atop of the Pennines.
I find that if I want to keep up with you guys I have got to sow in cells (plug plants) and plant out when conditions are suitable.
At least this way I am not controlled with the weather so much.
So fingers crossed the weather becomes kinder now that you have sown some stuff outdoors....Tg
Good for you. Happy growing!
Cheers
