Title: Netting and Cane Tops
Post by: bub on March 27, 2005, 00:38:07
Hi

I'm looking for a cheap online supplier of netting to stop the pigeons eating my cabbages. I need 6m x 6m sections of net.

Also, I have seen a picture of a netting cage someone made using garden canes.  The vertical canes had black plastic balls on top with holes to allow connection of horizontal canes.

Does anyone know a supplier of these?

thanks for your help

regards

bub

I bought some netting from Harrod, they also sell those cane connectors, look under the build your own fruit cage section.

AHS also sell the bamboo cane connectors

Personally I thought they were expensive for what they are so I've made a tunnel from blue water pipe and am covering it with fleece or netting to protect plants.

If you've access to old tennis or squash balls they make good cheap cane connectors.

Happy Easter everyone  ;)

Shame about the weather but as we'd already asked the neighbours round we are still determined to have a potjie using our leeks, onions and broccoli etc. We'll just have to stand under a golf umbrella  :(
