Lovely 70th. birthday present from eldest. He edited and has had printed the stories I wrote many years ago when he was a lot younger.
The books are now on sale on Amazon and astonishingly we have sold some too.
Chuffed does not begin to describe the feeling!
Well done ,you. What a lovely present. Tell us a bit more then we can have a look on Amazon. You might sell a few more!
what a brilliant gift from a very kind and well brought up person :)
Yes you are (if it is boasting) Well done and what a super present from your eldest. I've read one of your lovely stories you shared with me some time ago, but I'd love to see how one looks in print. Perhaps you could give us a title...
Have asked Dan if it is ok to post a link, waiting for a reply. Don't want to cause any problems.
Well done.
Just looked at the definition of boasting.
Boasting is to speak with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one's achievements, possessions, or abilities
Nothing excessive about your pride. You have done well. What a lovely present.
It is not normally allowed to put a link to something you are selling, but perhaps you could PM someone and they might just happen to recommend having a look.
Or maybe a clue to the title and then we can have a google.
Fair enough. No links, but the books are called 'The Flight to The Betty' and 'The Ashton Road Gang'
And as far as selling concerned, we have priced them without any royalties so the cost is that of printing and nothing else.
They look lovely books at a very reasonable price, I might pop them in my basket!
Very pleased for you Eric
Clever you, will certainly have a look. I love books and reading.
What no kindle edition?
Then you get to keep most the money (apart from the VAT) and save the trees.
Bit of a problem in that those the books were intended for, so not have Kindle machines so they would not be able to read the rubbish. Me included.
They look fab, must be exciting to see your own work in print, I'm off to have a little read :coffee2:
Third book due out next week sometime. Working on the fourth too!

Kindle app? or just get the software and load on to your pc. How can anybody live without a kindle ;)
Very easily. I don't have one as none of the books I want to read are available.
I needed some good news. Having one of my 'down' sessions at the moment
But the Ashton Road Gang Again is now available.

:)
Im so pleased for you! Im late replying, no change there...
I hope you write many more and many more kids enjoy your books
Believe it or not there are about 4 more books in the pipeline. Just need sorting out, editing and finding illustrations for them.
Going to cost us a fortune to buy a copy of each for all the grandchildren, nephews and nieces etc.
I have a kindle app on my phone. Do most of my reading on the phone now. You can get the print much bigger and carry loads of books around in your pocket.
Lots of children and mouldy oldies have phones and tablets etc now. You can beam the books around the world. I would certainly consider publishing with kindle as well. And it saves trees.
Just bought an actual kindle, mostly because on holiday the phone has a problem in bright sunlight.
Could you give me bit more info about them, I seND books to my grandaughter in Holland a lot from amazon uk.What age group are they best for and are they for boys girls or both and isgthere a common theme through them..very exciting for you ,boasting is fine..gloating is good too so have a ball doing both..well done Xx jeannine
Hi .J.
The first book is for say 10 to 12 year olds and is non-gender specific.
The Ashton Road Gang are for about the same age. They are the adventures of a group of 10 year old boys growing up in the North of England in the 1950's so I suppose they could be described as being for boys. Having said that, my daughters loved reading them.
The other books are more in the Fairy story genus. Not finished editing them though yet. Again for 10 to 12 year olds. Though the next book out my well be for younger than that, especially the first story which was written for a friend's 7 years old grandson.
Thank you again, my granddaughter is 8 and is not very "boylike" but it sounds as though the other one may be good and definatlely the new one coming..
Thank you
XX Jeannine
Boasting again. Next book due out this week.
This is the cover. This one is for slightly younger readers, say 8 to 10.

Well done
Excellent :sunny:
Boasting again. the Fifth Book is now on Amazon.
They set the price by the way not us. Not managed to buy a copy myself yet though, We need another book to get free postage and cannot find one we want.
I wrote a book about my life in gardening starting when I first was a garden boy, We used to sell it when I did my talk "Memories of a Garden Boy" and 50p from each sale (£4.00" went to the BHF as I had heart surgery some years ago. We gave the BHF just over £1000.00 but I stopped when I gave up speaking then we found the book on the internet at £10.00 plus posting. I have now attached it to my blog site so that anyone can download it is a button if you want to make a donation to the BHF.
We are not taking any Royalties on these books.
When I sell plants at various things I give the profits to the Flying Ambulance people. Never know when we might need one and living here we probably would since the Police have trouble finding this area.
Hi Palustris, Please do not think for a moment I was suggesting you were making money from your books , it was just that I was hurt to find my books on sale at twice the price for someone to be making money from them. Mine were never published I paid a local printer to print 250 at a time .
Never occurred to me. I was just pointing out that the price is up to Amazon who publish the things. Since I only expected Family to buy copies it seemed a bit cheeky to add more to the cost of the things.
Must be very irritating to see someone else making money from your hard work.
And now back to proof reading the next book.
The next two books are now out. Taken a while, the editor has been very busy.

Believe it or not I have just received the next book for proof reading. Wonder if the thrill ever gets any less.
Book is now ready for purchase. Amazon set the price, not us.
The house sale has fallen through, the weather is lousy, my arthritis is bad and depression is an ever present threat. BUT, the next book is almost ready for publishing. Just a few more bits of proof reading to go.
And here it is.

Amazon said can't send to Canada for now because of high demand..that sounds good I can wait.
I just read the book preview, sounds delightful and how do you come up with those names.
I couldn't resist plus I slipped in The Kingdom without a Dragon too!
Sorry you have to wait Jeannine, seems C19 affects all aspects.

Strangely the whole story began with Colonel Bludngutz and General Mayhem, who actually play very little part in the story. Then I was given a first sentence by someone. "It happened on a Tuesday" and it rolled out from there.
