Title: Plastic mulch for onions
Post by: Marlborough on December 27, 2015, 18:31:15
Does anyone grow onions planted through a plastic mulch? Apart from helping to keep the weeds at bay, are there any other advantages/disadvantages to using this method?🌱

It's our standard method.  The main disadvantage is that when the onion sets are just sprouting, the plastic can be shifted by the wind, or by animals walking on it, and cover over the new shoots.  This can be minimised by pegging the plastic down thoroughly.

But once the plants are established, it seems to be problem-free.
