There are a couple of seed companies lately who I'm rather suspicious of. I have been a customer of both, but I feel disinclined since I think they're stealing from bloggers. One I'm quite certain that's the case and I think I'll just send the blogger an email.
The other one, I don't know - isn't it normal to put a credit to photos and text if you have permission to use them?
Does anyone know?
Thanks
They should credit someone if they have used their photo with permission. More likely they have just copied it off the internet and used it without permission: this happened to me, I was alerted by a member of this forum they had come across a pic of my plot (and its very distinctive shed!) on a local council website, the text implying it was a typical plot on their site! They removed it straightaway when I told them about it, and the poor admin girl who had done it had just searched for allotment pics online and copied it from a blog........so it certainly happens.
It happens, sometimes deliberately and other times accidentally.
I don't copyright my blog or pictures and don't mind anything being used elsewhere providing that it's not to make money and due credit is given. I was pleased when I found that a Seattle newspaper had used one of my rose pictures in an article.
Only once have I used an uncredited picture from elsewhere which I was later asked to remove, which I did.
I would do as you suggest and send the blogger in question an email.
Thanks Deb and Blighty
I did email both. Interesting.
One of them said there was an individual working on both sites so it was a genuine mistake. I find that slightly disappointing in that one is a shop attached to a blog and I'd assumed those were personal comments and recommendations - seems not. But not a breach of copyright so fair enough.
The other was a flagrant breach of copyright. A seed company using photos and slightly tampered text from thedaughterofthesoil blog.
If they don't remove it I might 'out' them, but I'm not looking for a fight.
wouldn't buy from the latter again tho'
I found someone used one of my images and they agreed to give a donation to charity, except it did not arrive and it took quite a lot of emails to get them to cough up.
