I want to try the white rot prevention method of watering the plot with garlic water but having re-read a thread on it I'm not sure when to do it. I've got garlic ready for planting now and hopefully have got an unaffected area for it, but having had rot on other bits of the plot I'm not sure whether I should water the whole plot, and if so,when?
From my understanding you apply several months before planting as it triggers the spores into germinating, therefore I wouldn't apply it to the are the garlic is going.
It wants to go on while it's still warm, so now would be ideal, but you'll need to wait as long as you can before you have to plant the garlic - perhaps best done where your spring garlic will go now?

I do mine at the end of September and then plant on it the next year. Ideally the ground should be soaking wet and you really need to water in well. Best also to repeat a week or two later.
Thanks for your replies. I've risked planting the garlic but will water the rest if/when I get a chance tis week before it gets any colder.
