Title: Some of my better buys this year
Post by: Tee Gee on September 22, 2015, 16:00:34
As some of you may remember I attended Harrogate spring show and I bought some Chrysanthemum cuttings!

This is how the turned out:

As you can see I got a nice selection of colours and the quality is good.

Could have taken some of these and entered them in the Autumn show on Friday. :toothy10:

I have always wanted some 'Charm' Chrysants rather than 'Pot mums' and I managed to acquire these, trouble is they have been affected with White Rust' and this is the reason I have had difficulty in getting them

Here in the UK people have stopped growing them because of the rust and low and behold these imported plants are blathered in the disease.

I will have to keep them away from the above stock.

Perhaps in spring I will be able to take some clean cuttings and get rid of the parent plants....fingers crossed!

Just thought I would throw a picture of how my garden is looking like at the moment:

On the whole I am quite happy with my purchases.....Tg

Lovely display of the bigger headed flowers TeeGee.

Don't like the smaller ones cos those charm chrysanths look like the ones they sell here by the hundreds of thousands in pots for people to dress their family graves for All Soils or All Saints - never sure which but All Saints in a national holiday so probably that.   We call them Dead Plants.

Not so good a buy after all, the charms are full of white rust, that's often the trouble with these imports.

Will probably bin them before I fetch my sprays up for winter storage.(these are growing on the allotment)

You can just see signs of the white rust at the base of the fourth plant, (the bronze one!)

I have cut this plant back and it now has no back, so I have stuck it against a wall to make it look better.

My own fault really I let the wife get them for me and she picked the most floriferous plants rather than the healthiest.
